Catalyst to a Cure
Founded in 1990 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Breast Health International is a breast cancer foundation and think tank acting as a catalyst to advance breast cancer research and treatment. Our proudest accomplishment has been to bring together groups of the world's outstanding scientists in different disciplines. Since 1997, these groups have formulated groundbreaking guidelines for research and treatment of breast cancer. In its early years, BHI targeted the greatest needs in the local community-funding for widespread availability of mammograms, particularly for the underserved. By launching the Mammocare™ program, BHI helped thousands of women with limited health care options to obtain mammograms. Numerous organizations have followed suit, carrying out the significant work that BHI started.
As our efforts continue to grow, we realize that we have become a truly global organization, addressing the global threat of breast cancer. Our consensus conferences, fellowships and other programs are not limited by boundaries, so nor should we be. We have come to recognize our global responsibility. Therefore, we have an additional office in Europe and have established foundations in Italy, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
Many of the world renowned scientists who have participated in our consensus conferences have become members of our international think tank to help guide us through our global activities.
